Last weekend I competed in the Leicester Forest CC road race, which was also the final round of the EMRRL series of 2015. The race was held on my usual winter circuit with the HQ in Gilmorton, not to far from home. The race was 9 3/4 laps making it an overall distance of 60 miles.
On difficult narrow back country lanes, the race was always going to be a hard one. To to long into the race a 5 man break managed to go clear and establish a lead of around 1 minute. Constant attacks were then made in an attempt to get across which seen the lead cut to 30 seconds. However on the last lap there was a split in the bunch and a group of 7 was allowed to get away. The 2 lead groups then manged to stay away until the end, with the bunch sprinting for 13th place.
I did not manage to place in the sprint so I finished outside the points. Despite this I had a good day in the sun on local roads.
